Prepare for the peak one to two months ahead
An activity peak isn't prepared from a revenue target alone. Translate your sales forecasts into a logistics workload plan:
- Estimate the volumes to handle: orders per day, average number of items per order, and the split between single-item and multi-item orders.
- Secure your supply: anticipate best-seller replenishment, factoring in supplier lead times and any seasonal delays.
- Make stock reliable: run an inventory of picking locations two to three weeks before the peak, then fill the locations of the most-requested references.
- Size your resources: adjust headcount, shifts, packing stations, trolleys and consumables to the expected volume.
The goal: turn sales forecasts into a realistic operational plan before the orders arrive.
